  Starting School
Well today we decided we were going to start school early. We really do not have to start until the 4th of September, but Madi was so excited she woke up this am and said we are starting today!

Let me go back and say that Madi is homeschooled. We started after her preschool experience and loved it. She has completed kindergarten and now is in the 1st grade. Our decision to homeschool her was very easy. Madi had missed more than 50 days of school her preschool year and was sick all the time. Her doctors told me that this is normal and that it will get better. I just could not listen to how misreable she was and not be able to do anything about the other children coming to school sick. She would just cry and cry about having to go to school with the other children that are sick. She would ask why can't they stay home. I stay home when I am sick. I just explain to her that is the way some families are. But anyway back to how I could do something. Homeschool! We found CAVA in California and we really love it. Madi goes to school 3-4 hours a day at home and then every Thursday she goes to a classroom setting with a teacher from CAVA and is there for 3 hours. We have numerous fieldtrips with her teacher that she has. There are so many posting on the community pages for other fieldtrips or meetings at the park for a play date. When we are in these setting I explain to the new parent or teacher that Madi has CF and that she should not be around children or adults that are sick. Don't get me wrong, I don't keep her in a bubble or plastic wrap her up. I just explain to them how easy it is for her to get sick. She really gets alot of interaction. In having her homschooled we have avoided our 4th sinus surgery. She has not been sick since we started last year, other than a brief cold that lasted 5 days.

Madi was so excited to start. We added spanish this year to her school and after lunch we are going to log in and see what we got into.

Well just wanted to post about school.

Thanks again for all the comments and I look forward to posting more and talk to everyone!

How exciting! Also, what a great mom you are! It takes a lot tohomeschool, and you are to be congratulated! I'm sure Madie's health will be helped because of it. We have so many that homeschool here, I wish we could get a group together...
